What Is A Lifeline System?
To ensure the safety of all personnel working at height on flat or pitched roofs, fall prevention equipment may need to be installed for properties in the UK.
A lifeline system is a fall protection cable-based system which users attach to using a harness and lanyard. They are commonly found in two locations - on building roofs, and to the underside of roofs when working on fall-risk zones (e.g. trucks, tanks and machinery).
An approved cable-based fall arrest system, such as 3M RoofSafe, 8mm lifeline or Uniline system, can be a critical component to making work at height safe, keeping users firmly attached to a system.
Horizontal lifeline systems are not always the most appropriate, and collective protection systems such as guardrail systems can be more suitable. Each system has it's own benefits, so ensure you take sound advice before any system is installed to your roof.

The STQ Vantage Workmanship Quality
Are you concerned about the workmanship quality? Will there be interfacing issues between contractors?
It's an important question, no-one wants the cost or hassle of resolving these issues.
We've looked at managing the installations differently to ensure these problems do not occur on site:
- Proactive - We liaise with roofing companies and agree on the sealing method to ensure it is compatible with our product and provides an water-tight seal. Our site engineers collaborate with other site sub-contractors to remove potential interfacing issues and remove the issues for our clients'.
- Proprietary Systems - We install products and fixings that are secure, water-tight and weather resistant. They have been tried and tested very successfully.
